The BookFor quite a while I've been mentally formulating ideas and a structure for a book I've been wanting to write on the golf swing fundamentals that were perfected by Ben Hogan and to explain why those movements were so effective and important. The reason I want to write the book is that nobody seems to know what most of these fundamentals are or how to apply them, and Hogan's book Five Lessons hasn't helped. As with my instruction, my book will be geared toward the serious golfer or the golfer who wants to be as good as he/she can be and is willing to work hard enough to reach that goal. The book will also be of interest to anyone who has a fascination with Hogan's swing even though they don't intend to apply the movements to their own golf swing. The market for such a book is extremely small so instead of trying to publish through normal channels, I'll self publish and sell a few books a month via my website. I'll probably price the book equal to my hourly rate for Manipulation-free instruction, which at the time of this writing, is $150. A fairly expensive book, yes, but it will contain much more information than I could possibly discuss in a one hour lesson and it will be information you can't get anywhere else. Hogan's Five Lessons, The Modern Fundamentals of Golf had severe limitations—Hogan gave readers the ideas and feels he used, but this is only helpful to golfers who have swings that are already very similar to the way he swung—essentially, no one. In essence, Hogan explained his swing from his perspective with no regard to how a reader would use or respond to that information. He told you what he did and expected that to be sufficient. It wasn't! My focus with this book is on how to get the key information across to the reader so that he/she can understand not only the movements, but what they have to do to be able to incorporate those movements into their swings. Hogan's swing was different, and better, than any other top golfer and anyone wanting to be as good as they can be should look into the Hogan swing. If you feel you have the necessary motivation and dedication you should definitely consider learning how to develop such a swing! I've set up an email form where you can let me know you're interested in receiving notification when the book is ready for purchase. I've been hoping to finish the book for a number of years now, but there always seem to be something more important to do. Maybe by early summer of 2012. If you fill out the email form you will receive an auto reply with information on how to verify your address. Once verified, you will only be contacted once, which will be when the book is ready.
